Data protection statement concerning the registration

I undertake to observe the provisions of the Datenschutzgesetz ("Data Protection Act") and of the Personenstandsgesetz (“Personal Status Act”), each as amended.

When using the data from the Findbuch for Victims of National Socialism, copyrights and individual rights must be observed in all cases and the interests of third parties which merit protection must be safeguarded. Upon infringement of such rights and interests, I accept sole liability towards the injured parties. In such a case, the National Fund shall be indemnified and held harmless.

It is prohibited to transmit personal data to unauthorized persons or non-competent parties or to allow them to become aware thereof. The data may not be used for any purpose other than that stated upon registration; in particular, the automated capturing of data from the database is expressly prohibited.

In the case of publication, copyrights and individual rights must be observed and the interests of third parties which merit protection safeguarded. In particular, the interests of data protection pursuant to Sec. 11 (1) and (2) of the Bundesarchivgesetz ("Federal Archives Act") and the regulations of the respective archive holding the files must be observed.

I further undertake to hold the access data in safekeeping and protect it from use by third parties.

By registering to use the Findbuch, I declare my consent to the storage of my personal details.

Data protection notice

The protection of your personal data is a key concern of the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism. Without exception, your personal data are processed in keeping with the latest provisions governing data protection, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation.

The following contains information about which data we process and for what purpose, and about your data protection rights.

We collect the following data during the registration process: your full name, your address and email address, and the information you have given stating the purpose of your research (both the check box and your explanation). In addition, we will also save a copy of the photo ID you have provided.

These data are used in accordance with the National Fund Law (on the basis of Sec. 2a (1) item 7 of the National Fund Law, Federal Law Gazette no. 432/1995 as amended) to activate your account (enabling access to the database of the “Findbuch for Victims of National Socialism”), to administer your account, to provide information pertaining to the Findbuch, and for statistical purposes. Your data will not be passed on to third parties.

According to the data protection regulations, you as the data subject have extensive rights. These rights are primarily intended to ensure greater transparency in relation to your data. Your rights as a data subject are the right to information about the personal data concerning you, to correction and, if necessary, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to the processing of personal data concerning you (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR), provided this does not conflict with any legal obligations.

We keep usage statistics based on data automatically sent by your browser when you visit one of our sites.
